Enterprise Green Communities Mission & Vision

Green Communities is the first national green building program developed for affordable housing focusing on the use of environmentally sustainable materials, reduction of negative environmental impacts and increased energy efficiency.

Green Communities is designed to help developers, investors, builders and residents transition to a greener future for affordable housing by offering grants, loans, tax-credit equity, training and technical assistance to give developers and builders the resources needed to bring green projects to life.

Green Communities homes are built according to the Green Communities Criteria for healthy, efficient, environmentally smart affordable homes.

Butner Estates Green Communities Design Charrette

LLa architecture was selected as facilitator for a Green Communities Design Charrette related to the development of Butner Estates, a 39 unit housing development located in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Housing Resources of Western Colorado is the developer of Butner Estates. This single family subdivision situated on 9.6 acres will contain 24 units set aside for low income residents. These homes will carry deed restrictions to provide for affordable housing resale cost in perpetuity.

The design Charrette was organized around creating a Green Development Plan for satisfying Green Communities criteria. Participants collaborated on ways to integrate green principals throughout the development.
