McNeese Residence – Grand Junction, Colorado

The client desired a responsibly sized home with two outdoor rooms and ample space for art. They felt the house should embrace surrounding views, be environmentally friendly and utilize low maintenance materials appropriate to the high desert climate.

Inspiration for the design includes the work of Basque sculptor, Jorge Oteiza. Oteiza's work possesses spatial qualities that resonate with the sculptural character of the surrounding desert landscape.

Land forms, colors, and materials influence the building's exterior to blend visually with the site. Imagery borrowed from the site's geology extends the connection to place into the distant past.
